Sancarraro is the nickname – “ngiuria” – given to the family Anselmi and its descendants since the 1800s, as it is said that the ancestors of the Anselmi they used to go to the town of piano San Carlo, located in the municipality of Mazara del Vallo, near the current nature reserve of Lake Preola and Gorghi Tondi, to cultivate their own vineyards.
